THE CHALLENGE - IS DANGEROUSLY CLOSE

...making a decision about what to do next - perhaps in the next second or so - will definitely affect the outcome..

THE SOLUTION

.. is in two parts, you and the man standing next to you. He is the man who has read the track, the wind, the steaming dung, he is the man who has counselled you, whose skills brought you here and finally fashioned this moment. You’ve dreamt of this for years and wondered how you would behave as this moment approached, well, the imagining is over, its happening and, right in front of you. Tony asks that you spend time reviewing your many options along with the highlights in the slide show at the top of the page and then talk to him - for that will be the beginning of a plan, your plan.
Hunting
Tomkinson African Safaris only offers hunting in conservation areas that form part of an ongoing wildlife management program. Only huntable surpluses are offered and all hunting is done by fair chase or ‘walk and stalk’ with all activities adhering strictly to the Professional Hunters Association of Southern Africa’s Ethics Code. The company is a long standing member of this association whose mission is the protection, conservation and sustainable use of South Africa’s natural resources - through its focus on the promotion of ethical hunting throughout its hunting membership. Over the years Tomkinson African Safaris has built strong relationships with a number of excellent safari outfitters whose home bases and hunting concessions are in South Africa, or further afield in Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Zambia, Tanzania and Uganda. Your safari really begins with a call to Tony. He is uniquely placed to turn your dreams of an African safari into a reality so vivid you’ll return to Africa again and again. He will create a magic blend of diversity and pace with combinations of big game hunting, wingshooting, photography and fishing - you make the call. All game hunted is either turned into gourmet meals in Tony’s safari camps or donated to disadvantaged communities in the area being hunting and no part of any animal is wasted. ...we make dreams come true.
Tomkinson A SAFARI AND HUNTING LEGEND T What do we do?

THE CHALLENGE

...to fairly present the impact of hunting on the land and hunted wildlife populations in Southern Africa.

THE SOLUTION - SOME FACTS

Global communications make it easy to teach, advise and counsel and are used here to sum the facts: The value of huntable wildlife populations has grown enormously in recent years. Driven by growing global demand for hunting, South Africa’s unique flora and fauna wealth has drawn the greatest global interest. These market forces have stimulated both government and private interests in a co-operative effort to prepare and return under utilised and marginal land to its original wildlife inhabitants. As in any competitive environment - benefits flow from tighter control over the well being of the hunted populations and the land they occupy. Wildlife management programs, developed and pioneered in South Africa are now in use internationally The steady improvement of vast tracts of land in South Africa promises to gift future generations with land holding the kind of wildlife populations that existed - before the ‘old style’ hunters arrived - many centuries ago.
